Case Western Reserve University Newspaper Archive Launch
Congratulations to the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) on the launch of its digital Student Newspaper Archive!

The entire project took the Veridian team 9 months to complete. We oversaw the scanning of the original newspapers from microfilm along with the OCR creation. A customized presentation system was then built to allow students and researchers to retrieve relevant information easily and quickly.

This collection includes nine student newspaper titles from the university's archives which give important student perspectives on events from as early as 1862 through to 2010. The archive contains 6,263 issues comprising 55,769 pages and 314,236 articles.
Our top 10 tips for newspaper digitization projects
Veridian software was initially designed for large scale newspaper digitization projects. We decided to focus on this niche in order to develop the very best solution for these very large and complex collections.

After many years working closely with our customers to create digital newspaper collections we've gathered together our top 10 tips for newspaper digitzation to share with you. If you're considering creating an online newspaper archive this would be a great place to begin!
Until next month, best wishes from the Veridian team - Stefan, Michael, Jeffrey, Andrew, Richard, Pei, Shane and Miriam.
